Course Description

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for injured patrons. This course certifies successful participants in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First-Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Course schedule is an Intensive format which requiring sustained energy and focus for several hours in the pool.

Unless otherwise noted, our Lifeguard Courses are a Blended Learning, Intensive Course using a 3 session format indicated above.

Each participant must successfully complete the American Red Cross required skills and testing to become a certified lifeguard. By registering for this course, the participant acknowledges the risk of not passing the certification testing and no refunds will be issued due to a failed certification test. 

Course Requirements

  • Participants must be at least 15 years of age on or before the last course date.

  • Swim 300 yards continuously using crawl stroke or breaststroke, demonstrating rhythmic breathing. (Must swim with your face in the water)

  • 2 minutes of treading water without using your hands. (Your head must stay above water)

  • Timed 10# brick retrieval in 8 feet of water. (20 yard swim, dive to retrieve object, swim 20 yards back - on your back - without your hands)

  • This is a blended learning course which means students must complete online coursework prior to, and between the class sessions.

  • Students must attend all course sessions and actively participate in skills practice

  • Students must successfully complete final skills and written testing at the end of Day 2 in order to gain Certification.

  • Certification is not guaranteed, success is based on demonstrating competency in all of the skills. We will not lower the American Red Cross bar for lifeguards in order to pass a course participation. No Refunds will be issued for failed certification. No exceptions.    ​

Tryout Before You Register

Not sure you can pass the physical requirements of lifeguarding? No problem! We encourage you to Try-out the Pre-Course skills before enrolling in a certification course. Pay $29 and "try-out" before enrolling in the Lifeguarding Course. If you pass the requirements, we will apply your course fee to the certification course. If you are unsuccessful we will give you the feedback on how to improve and pass the test in the future.
